FAQ

How do I get started?
Contact me through the form in the footer or email karen@karenmccartylpc.com to set up a free 20-minute phone consultation to see if we would be a good fit.
Do you have an office or offer video or phone sessions?
I offer video telehealth sessions to Texas residents. Telehealth is convenient and flexible, making prioritizing therapy easier in today’s busy world. I will also conduct phone sessions if technical difficulties occur.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance. However, I can provide a Superbill for you to submit and seek reimbursement from your insurance. I can’t guarantee the rate of reimbursement.
How do I pay?
I accept credit and debit cards. You must keep a card on file. Payment for all sessions is through an automated payment system.
How long is a session, and how often would we meet?
Sessions are for 50-60 minutes.
What is your cancellation policy?
You will not be charged a late fee if you give me 24 hours’ notice or by 6 p.m. the day before our session. However, I charge a $75 fee if you are a no-show or cancel too close to our scheduled appointment.
Do you assign homework between sessions?
That is up to you. I have assignments for specific issues that can accelerate your progress if you would like.
How long will therapy take?

The short answer is that it takes as long as it takes. Some people will find relief after a few sessions, and others prefer treatment over the long term.

You may need 6-8 sessions to meet your needs; others may need years. I would suggest committing to eight sessions and then reevaluate.

What sets you apart from other therapists?
I’ve been where you are. I know how hard it is to reach out for help. I’ve walked the same journey many of my clients are walking. I know therapy works because I’ve experienced it.
What are some of your favorite things?
I enjoy family, my dogs, watching sports (I’m not particularly eager to sweat), cruise ships, summertime, movies, and learning new things.
